Embeddable Reporting on Bluemix introduced to Business Intelligence students

University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun in India is offering Management course on Business Analytics. In this course, students get an opportunity to learn about IBM Big Data & Analytics tools and technologies.  Professors at UPES using course content and software by IBM Academic Initiative for no charge. This year IBM Academic Initiative team is also giving IBM Bluemix 12 & 6-months access to professors and students respectively to develop, test and deploy on IBM Cloud. 

Professor +Krishan Pandey  (Head of Decision science department at UPES) and +Prof. Vibhav Mathur (Professor - Decision science department at UPES) invited me to discuss IBM’s Business Intelligence offerings with MBA students. On 15^th Oct, UPES conducted a guest lecture for students where I got opportunity to show the capability of IBM Cognos BI and Embeddable Reporting on Bluemix Cloud. We discussed few very popular industry use-cases and implementation challenges. During the demo session we quickly built couple of reports and dashboards using Cognos BI. Later similar demos were shown using Embeddable Reporting service on IBM Bluemix.

 

Lab exercises were shared with students for hands-on. Students find IBM tools very interesting and easy to use. Faculty asked students to use IBM Bluemix to create their BI project. Looking forward to seeing some exciting Business Intelligence applications by the end of this semester. Wishing all the luck to these students for future exam and project.
